Hot dip galvanized DP steel HC250/450DPD+Z, HC250/450DPD+ZF,…
Microstructure
The predominant microstructures in DP steels are ferrite and martensite. The martensite is dispersed in the form of islands within the ferrite matrix. The ferrite matrix is soft, imparting good formability to the steel. Conversely, the martensite is hard, providing the steel with high strength. The proportion of martensite in the steel directly affects its strength, which increases with a higher proportion of harder martensite. To cater to different applications, DP steels are produced with varying yield ratios (YS/TS).
Performance characteristics
DP steels possess several distinct performance characteristics. Firstly, they exhibit no yield elongation, meaning that they maintain their shape and size under stress without undergoing significant deformation. Secondly, they do not experience room temperature aging, which can cause the material to become brittle over time. This property enhances the durability and reliability of the steel in long-term use.
DP steels also have a low yield strength ratio, which refers to the ratio of the yield strength to the tensile strength of the material. This property is advantageous for applications where deformation is desired, such as in forming or bending operations.
Furthermore, DP steels have a high work hardening index, which indicates the ability of the material to resist deformation under stress. This characteristic is particularly valuable in applications where the steel is subject to repeated loading, such as in automotive bodies.
Lastly, DP steels possess a high bake hardening value, which means that they can become significantly harder after undergoing a low-temperature heat treatment. This property improves the strength and durability of the material, making it suitable for use in high-stress environments.
Main applications
The DP series of high-strength steel is currently the preferred material for structural components in various applications. It is commonly used in the production of stiffeners, anti-collision parts, and structural components, including cross members, rails, anti-collision bars, and anti-collision bar stiffeners for automotive and industrial applications. Its superior strength and durability make it an ideal choice for these high-stress applications.
