303se stainless steel is a free-machining variation of the basic 18-8 austenitic stainless steel. It is an ideal choice for applications that require excellent machinability and good corrosion resistance. The “se” in 303se stands for “selenium”, which is added to enhance the machinability of the alloy. Compared to 303 stainless steel, the addition of selenium in 303se results in better machinability, improved chip breaking, and reduced tool wear.

303se stainless steel has good corrosion resistance in mildly corrosive environments and can be used in a wide range of applications, such as fittings, fasteners, and bushings. However, it is not recommended for use in highly corrosive environments or where the material is exposed to high temperatures.
